My PC has started getting stuck on the Starting Windows screen and I've been trying to log on to safe mode to diagnose the issue

My mobo is ASUS m5a78l-m/usb3

I've tried F8, F2, F12 but nothing works.

Can someone please help me with getting into the safe mode

Thanks

Perhaps F5 will do the trick.

I'd try repeatedly hitting whatever key you choose as soon as you boot it.

Ow, i thought that is what you wanted ... you mean Safe Boot, not Quick Boot ! ... okay then, there are two ways to Safe Boot:

1) Launch msconfig, and on the boot tab there is a checkbox for safe boot. This is not of much use if you cannot enter Windows.

2) The alternative approach is to hit F8 key repeatedly, just before Windows loads. That takes you to the Advanced Menu, where you may select Safe Mode from list of options.

You say that you have already pressed F8 at startup. You need to press F8 just at the right moment. And that moment, is when after the BIOS screen, but before the Windows logo screen. Just press F8 lots of times, to be sure that it catches!

Hi probuddha,

My mobo is ASUS m5a78l-m/usb3 Windows 7 x64 Pro.

I've tried F8, F2, F12 but nothing works.

I think Asus is to repeatedly press F9 as soon as the Asus logo screen appears.

I hope this helps!

It would be nice if the author would tell us what he had to do. It's been a month since we heard from him.

Yes it would be nice wither 2!

If the issue has been resolved it would be nice to know how he resolved it [and to mark the thread as solved].
It could possibly help others visiting this thread with the same or similar problem.

Can you enter BIOS?
Is there an option for fast boot or ultra fast boot?
My MoBo has a super fast boot option that doesn't load the USB and keyboard BIOS drivers so until you're in Windows and load Windows drivers you cant do anything.
I had to remove the BIOS battery to reset the BIOS to the defaults.
