Thanks everyone tried everything but nothing worked. However thinking back to my old Windows XP I suddenly remembered a small piece of software called Unlocker, from ages ago, which unlocks Windows explorer files that say files in use etc... as it said in my first post and it worked !
Arcadian, I've had the very same problems (uninstalling Real Player & Adobe) with Windows Explorer stating that files are 'in use', which as 'you will understand' was an impossibility!
After hours of frustration & turmoil I came across your recommendation of downloading 'Unlocker". Admit, a bit afraid of these so-called freebie downloads, but again, had been going no-where ....
Arcadian, cannot 'THANK YOU' enough ..... 'UNLOCKER' really does work!
