    Hi There, I cant rip CD's -

So I go to rip a cd, and a window comes up and says "Can't Rip CD"

I think I may have deleted windows media center,

I still have WMP and it plays CD's but won't rip

I really don't want another program from god knows where, would like to fix this one

Jesus I hope this is easy to fix, pollen is falling by the pound where I live, I don't mind a white Christmas

but this green spring stuff is choking me.

    thanks folks

Torch wood Hi, I am not lying, really I mean that

But I have not a clue what I could do useful with your reply, and links, but WMP 12 looked inspiring, if I could get to the "just do this part and rip a CD
    .

let me re say this, I want to delete what ever junk WMP is on my 7, and safely install a WMP that rips CD's. Hopefully with out "Media Center" ,,,,, which I think I deleted, cause it came up and then out into useless outer space when I tried to play a FLV file, which I got very pissed about, and then a nut job on another forum told me to delete media Center, and it appears that's when I lost ability to rip, and if I get a WMP that rips and does not steal data, which is all WIN 10 does, I will be very happy and back in my living room

so WMP N, or NK, or "lets get started", and my machine turns into a device to kid nap all my time, maybe days even.

is there a easy way, instead of 7500 choices to just delete a few things and not more then a few and just play stuff and rip again, cause none of that stuff worked in the pictures on my machine

truly thanks and more thanks for your understanding,

    Truly Jim Davis

YES, when i do whats in the pics i only get "windows can not access this file,,,etc.
tho i have a drop down window rip offer in the tool bar and formats settings show, but still get "Windows cannot access this file"

WMP "n" has a down load button but when I go to download, there is not a file coming from MS
    just some advertising page.

    Hi Jim,

    lets try a different tack.

Open Features >>> UNtick the 3 entries that show in my Screenshot

    REBOOT

    now from the link
    install WMP12 - kb968211

    REboot

    Try ripping 1

thanks Roy very much, ha ha ha I tried to warn you, how dumb I am,

so were is the features????? ...in WMP ?

as well i am not getting a screen shot on my end but see instructions in red above .

I as I read else with another guy where too,,, I can just drop a cd in cd drive and windows starts a unnamed, un-artists un-band name RIP, which ends in a info worthless lossless fill.

I tried to down load wmp 12, but MS said I was already updated....?

I am afraid tho if I rip out the WMP file, I will not be able to put a WMP program back in, as I am familiar WMP 11

mean while I will look for features in WMP??? but do get back to me, and thanks again.

god I pray this is fun for you

Is it possible that the CD is copy protected?

    Hi Wither, (Tourchwood) no protections.

As I recall, I tried to play a Flv file of "Mountain, My Lady" which was a very nice sounding vinyl to Flv

and it would not recognize the Ext. and "windows media center kept popping up
saying "Welcome lets get started and call your mom and say good by forever"

So I deleted media center, Flv s still would not play. then when I went to rip a cd, media play said "media player can not rip this CD" or any I tried, then another guy some where posted he could not manually insert info rip a CD either, put if he just dropped one in, it would auto rip before he could fill in the song artist info, I tried that and sure enough it went ripping even tho I have turned that feature off. so then I had a zero info CD that did not show up in my music, and i spent an hour finding it again in media player, where i had to copy it and dump in Documents in many song parts. where i put it in a named file then to flash drive on my Marantz which is legle, (god spell check sucks)

I frankly don't want media 12 player on this 7 any longer, it seems to need media center to function.
BUT I DON'T NEED MEDIA CENTER TO FUNCTION. Now OUT OF RESPECT FOR TORCH WOOD, I will try his remarks, but I now wish to delete 12 and go back to 11 or 10 player.
