You bought the wrong modem. I said two or three times to get this or this US Robotics modems. Why? Because they can intercept Caller ID, i.e, Bell 202 modulation. What modem did you buy?

To answer the SmartCallMonitor question, I don't use it as I said I use the paid for PhoneTray for my needs, but when I read over the SmartCallMonitor features, it appears you can pick any Windows sound for the alert. So knowing this, I can make you a sound file that'll last some 30 seconds or longer if need be and you can direct SmartCallMonitor to that sound file to use for incoming calls.

Now remember when I said you can get these US Robotics modems on eBay cheaper than Amazon? Well, I bought two the moment I made my post here one week ago post number 4. They do work. How much were they? About 15 smackers a piece. Hell if I was paying $60 for a freaking cheap circuit board for 1990's tech.

It shouldn't be an issue without an eBay account either. I think they (eBay) allows you to check out as a guest using a debt/credit card. Don't have one? Go to the store and get a pre-paid Visa debt card. https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...r5637&_sacat=0

WOW – sorry. I surely didn’t mean to trigger a response like this.

I did get SmartCallMonitor to generate a one time computer system sound as noted just not the sound of a telephone ringing through the headphones for each ring from the phone as I hoped for. The “low-tech” option of simply placing a cheap microphone next to an external ringer, then directing it through the mixer is working fine. I understand this is not what I originally asked for but then again I really didn’t know exactly what I wanted or how to proceed.

Again, so sorry to upset you. I really didn’t intend to do so. My sincere apologies,
    Steve K.
