Ive always used Avast! on my old AMD Sempron 2800+ (2Ghz single core) with 2GB DDR ram and have never had a problem with system lag and have never had any infections. i personally love the various system "shields" that scan all information while being processed :)

Your system specs say that you have 8gb of memory ... why would you be concerned with how much recourses the AV uses ????

Ah, so this is not for the computer you have system specs for. Like I said, Avast and MSE both have low resource use. Flip a coin, you can't go wrong.

I posted a similar thing in another thread. It always amazes me that people are concerned about this. If it takes a few MB of RAM for my AV to do it's job then it's welcome to it.

@Lemur...you should read this "Fanboism" - What exactly does that mean? as it applies to your post here
@tweek... you should read narcissism, as it may apply to your post.

I just need to know which uses less system resources? I have been a long time user of Avast! home antivirus. Also I might use it on my current computer too (the one with the specs listed below)

Hi Imeem IMHO Comodo Firewall 5.0.16 (free) & Avast AV 5.0.6 (free) compliment each other perfectly with very little background usage. They work hand in hand very effectively.

yes, you are correct, Comodo´s firewall works well toghether with Avast.

but, i believe you might have misunderstood the question:
"Which antivirus is more effective? Avast! antivirus home or Comodo antivirus?"

    the question was which ANTIVIRUS...

I used comodo firewall in the pass and it worked very well. In fact too well, it interrupts my gaming and other stuff.
