If you haven't set up dual booting correctly with XP and Win 7, then XP may be deleting restore points in Win 7. I know that was happening with Vista and XP.

    Hello,
I have a question. For the repair install which disk should I use? I made the Acer Recovery Disks backups and the System Repair backup disk when I got the computer. I have no Windows 7 installation disk as the tutorial suggests to use for the repair. I have tried to run both of the disks but it seems there are no setup files or when autoplay opens the only option is to open the files and explore. I don't see any application files.

    Thanks

First go into Bios and set DVD/CD as first Boot option. Hard drive will move to second spot.
Then put the System Repair disk in the CD/DVD player.
When you click out of Bios the CD/DVD will start. If it jumps to Windows the first time just reboot with disk in drawer and it will boot into the CD on restart.
Looking for something like this marked Boot Device Select.

Next step. CD is third in below pic. Make CD first and hard drive second.

    Then follow repair instructions.
Sorry I didn't think about the boot order in Bios yesterday. You can leave it set this way with hard drive second. Mine is that way. If there is no DVD in drawer it will go to hard drive after skipping CD/DVD.

Your repair disk should work. I posted this for you if yours won't work but yours should when CD is set right in Bios.
No need to make two if yours works.
This is for only if your disk doesn't work as boot/ repair CD.

This will show you how to make a repair disk or USB Flash drive. I don't know what size flash drive you need if you would prefer that route.

    Hopalong X,

I changed the boot order and got the System Repair disc to boot. I clicked on all the options just to be sure and ran those. It seemed to have worked. I was able to download google chrome and update my AVG where as in other attempts before all this it would give me error messages. I guess this means that everything is okay?

Will this fix my video buffering issues as well?

Thanks for all the help again

I don't know about the video buffering. Will read the beginning of the thread.
I just caught the last couple of pages.

    Glad you got it going.

I had to re read from the beginning. It may help but video buffering can also be caused by your internet speed.
I was on dial up for years- all they had out here in the country side. Watching videos was impossible.

So give it a try and post back if buffering problem continues. Or make a new post with problem.

    Hopefully that cured it all.

    Hopalong X,
I don't know if I even mentioned the video buffering issue in my first posts. It all started at the same time as the so hopefully it is fixed. I am on broadband and never had issues before.
