Missing Security Center--botched fix, needs repair
So, I got a virus. This one tried to pass itself off as "windows 7 security 2012." I got rid of it, but it left some problems. There is a red flag message telling me to turn on Windows Security Center service. When I click on it, or attempt to start it via the action center, I get an error that reads: "The Windows Security Center service can't be started". I looked at some forums and, following instructions, opened Services to reactivate the Security Center.
The Security Center, however, wasn't there. It wasn't on the list at all. So I went further into forums, leading to the same problem in the Vista Forums.
I followed the last command given, but I mistyped it. The security center now appears in the Services, but I messed up the path to the executable.
I have 2 questions:
1: how can I undo my mistake and fix this?
2: will this even work for windows 7?
Thanks!
