Warning - Superantispyware Installer Will Cause BSOD

    Win7 already has excellent antispyware, Windows Defender, why would you even bother with a 3rd party product?

    SuperAntiSpyware free edition v4.24.1004 installed and runs perfectly on my win 7 x64 installation. It updates and runs a scan correctly.

    Maybe they've changed the installer. I'll try it on my x86 and report back.

    OK - this time no BSOD but it refused in x86 with the popup "Windows Installer Has Stopped Working - send more info?"
    I tried direct installation, saving and then compatibilty mode and even running as Admin, all the same result.

    It seems as if it only works on a 64 bit installation.

    I've installed win 7 32 bit and 64 bit, but I've only installed software and played with the 64 bit installation so far.
    I will try and install in x86 and report back.

    Hmmm, sounds similar to my experiences with SEP 11 - One of Symantec's biggest complaints about Vista was that the kernel was locked up too tight for their software (and particularly their enterprise software) to run correctly, and that was one of the things that SP1 fixed for Vista.

    I wonder if W7 went back to he tightened kernel code that they originally used for Vista....

    Fortunately you can boot back up again successfully. Good job as SA wont uninstall in Safe Mode.

    I had to download and run their uninstaller as it fails to appear in CP > Programs > Uninstall a Program.

    I've attached it if anyone else falls victim. It takes a couple of seconds to run and then reboot is necessary.

    It's a pity as SA is quite a good anti-spyware agent & is a good last resort against Vundo before going the Hijackthis route.
    Thanks for the info! However, it's not helping me at all...here's why. I upgraded to Windows 7 RC from a Vista Ultimate installation (x86), which already had SA installed on it. Now, whenever I boot Win 7, it's only a matter of seconds before the BSOD appears, and then the computer restarts after 2-3 seconds. I don't even have time to run the uninstaller. Any suggestions? Thanks so much!

    Oh, and for what it's worth: this was just an old drive that I use mostly for experimenting with new operating systems - there's nothing to be lost here, so this isn't exactly a vital issue...just annoying as all get out.

    It seems that the latest 4.26.1006 version of SuperAntispyware is working fine on my 64-bit Windows 7 (7229) build.

In the last few weeks my computer started to turn off itself without a warning, mostly when I was not using it (I think that even in sleep mode). Today I saw why, It was a blue screen for a period of 2-3 seconds. I couldn't see the message. Does anybody knows the reason?
Why does SuperAntiSpyware Portable keep running an installer? That's what I want to know. Downloaded 2 different versions and both pop up an installer instead of just running the scanner.
i had the latest version of SuperAntiSpyware running fine on 7000. i just installed it on 7100, and as soon as i hit OK to select English as the primary language, i get a BSOD. beware :shock:
