If you're looking for free, Microsoft Security Essentials is very nice. Avast 5 works fine too.

If you want paid, Norton Internet Security 2010 is very good, and Nod32.

Alot of people say that the new Norton is top notch for paid programs and it's not a memory hog like previous versions. I go with free services and use Avira AV and Threatfire. ESET is another one that alot recommend. The big thing is look at detection success and options. For instance AVAST has an email scanner whereas Avira doesn't but Avira has a higher success rate of detection.

If your purchasing one:

Norton 2010 hands down.
Excellent Product, coming from a former Norton hater.

"Norton its a piece of junk" - Chris2010

Kaspersky and Avast! are very good programs. You should look at what features both offer, decide whether or not you want to pay and then you should install NIS2010.

What ever you decide to go with, you should first install the trial the company offers. You may find that you don't like that particular program or that it has an incompatibility with something on your PC.

I was going to look for Kaspersky and Avast! prices but I can't be bothered, at the moment.

I don't know if ZTechSoftware is a reputable website. Here is its Web of Trust rating.

You should do your own research and find out which AV is best, I did my research and on most site reviews Bitdefender came out 1st, and 2nd was kaspersky... so I would reccomend Bitdefender to you, as I have been using it for 2 years on home PC, and 2 months on my new 7 laptop, and no viruses on either. But between Avast and kaspersky, definitely kaspersky because its better and its worth it, but try out bitdefender. To anyone that tells you norton is good, than back slap them with your hand :P
