Hey everyone, seems I'm getting a random stop error approx. 1 or 2 times daily.

SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0X0000003B

I've googled the error but can't seem to come up with anything relative to my problem. I recently moved to Build 7100, but I had the error while using 7000.

Anyone else having this problem, or heard of anything pertaining to this?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks, Al

Thanks for the reply.

I have a 9800GT with driver version 8.15.11.8172 courtesy of Windows.

When I try to install either the Vista 64 or Win7 64 driver from the nVidia site I get the message "No compatible Hardware was found for use with this software"

Have you tried getting the latest Beta 185.81 (8.15.11.8581) from GeForce Release 185 and right click on it, go to properties, and run it as an administrator.

Hmmm...that would lead me to believe you have other hardware/driver issues. It says "Bus/Interconnect Error", which could mean one of a few busses is not working properly.
Have you checked for any updated drivers for your MoBo? (chipset..etc)

Also, check to see if all your hardware and cables are seated and connected properly in their slots and connections. Run a memtest to check your memory.

Hi Aaron

I lost all faith in Memtest a couple years back bud. I had a problem in XP that I had narrowed down to it absolutely HAD to be a RAM issue, but Memtest86 kept saying it was all good and that was after 4 runs of 20 passes.
Finally I pulled all sticks but one and the problem disappeared. Started putting them back in 1 by 1 and on the 3rd stick...wham..problem back. Took it out, everythings good, put it back all is whacked again. Ran another 20 passes and it STILL came back as Ok but it obviously wasn't. Once that stick was out permanently I never had that issue again.

Now that was back in 03 (I think) and memtest could well be much more reliable now (I would hope anyway ), I still have that nagging doubt about it as a sure test.

Hi Chapster,

Yeah, I've read about others having the same outcome, but I don't think it would hurt to run a test anywho. It pretty much sounds like it's some hardware issue. Might take out some memory one by one and run it for a while to see if the errors come back. Sort of an old school experiment let's say. :)

Update, I've upped the CPU voltage from 1.25 to 1.26.75.....seemed it was more than enough voltage to run my slight overclock.

Haven't had a problem in several days now. I'll keep you posted if this solved the problem for certain as it may be helpful to other users.

I'm also having the 0x0000003b error, but it is not random. It occurs every time that I try to run a game (CoD, MoH AA & Nethack). I have a number of other games, but haven't installed them, because it appears to be a losing battle. Since I multi-boot, and haven't had this problem with any other OS, I don't believe that it is a hardware problem. Using CoD as a test case, I tried changing the compatability setting several different ways with no improvement. I added it to the DEP Exclusions...no change. Since it seemed to occur simultaneously with selecting the firewall's full screen option, I tried exiting the firewall before starting the game. That did prevent the BSOD, but the game crashed to a black screen all by it's self. I tried the latest Nvidia driver and then rolled it back to the original W7 driver with no change. I don't know, since not everybody is having this problem, but I have a hunch that it is either the Nvidia driver...or something in the installation of W7 itself.

EDIT: As a side note, I tried experimenting with Nvidia 3D settings, by turning everything on, but that caused a BSOD also. I really don't know anything about those settings, but I don't think that it should have crashed the computer.

Just searched Msdn.MS and seems to be a sys service exception caused by recent hardware change. Maybe video driver? Could you give us more info like from event viewer, or the mem dump? Also when BSOD happens on the screen it displays a stop message along with other text. that would also be helpful

Hope it helps a little.

You might, but when I tried, I got a warning that the driver wasn't compatable with the OS...but thenI got that warning on the W7 driver also.
