Solved 1.90 GB iso dvd - can I delete it?

This is a large file on my laptop, an update of some sort I think? I'm a complete computer novice and would like to know if I can just delete the file to save space (am having a clear-out of unnecessary large files)

Yep it's just an update ISO for Windows. ISO's are only usable and accessible when you mount them to virtual drives or burn them to physical discs, so there's no harm whatsoever in deleting it. Plus you can download it again from Microsoft if you want. Any ISO on your computer you can get rid of, or just burn them and then delete em if you're trying to free up space.

Just had one last thought whilst on this subject - is there any free program which will detect and delete these 'unnecessary' large files?

It would save a lot of people a lot of time.

If you go search in Windows (and make sure you're checking every drive including non-indexed locations), you can type in "*.iso" (without the quotes) and it'll come up with every ISO file you've got. You can try that with every type of file extension, the * is just a wildcard so it only pays attention to the extensions.

USeful info as you gave before, presumably unwanted files such as setup/exe and other files which are mostly gained during software installations on a once only basis can be cleaned up in the same way?
