'1 day to activation' notice

Hi there,

First time poster here - be gentle, please.

Hopefully I've placed this in an appropriate place, apologies if not.

Having the same issues as the OP. Now I'm seeing '1 day to activation' notice re Windows 7.

Been following the forum discussions since 'Patch Tuesday' re the update issue.

Windows 7 is genuine this end and came pre-installed in laptop..... panic setting in.

Anyone?

No need to worry - being non-genuine does NOT lock you out of almost anything.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

What AV are you using?
Please disable real-time scanning/protection and reboot

If the notification has disappeared, re-enable real-time scanning and reboot again

If the notification is still present, first check whether the real-time scanning is still switched off If so, then re-enable it and post the result. If it's turned itself back on then tell me or try again using a different disable option.

Hi again,

Did as you've suggested (hopefully correctly) - rebooted and as of yet no 'pop up' notification showing, but the '1 day to activation' notice is still there.

I've since run/copied/saved another 3 MGADiag reports - unsure if you wish to see results of all.

1) AV OFF and internet OFF.

2) AV ON and internet OFF.

3) AV ON and internet ON.

Do you wish me to post the results from any/all of the 3 above?

Please first try recreating Licensing Store.

Recreate the Licensing Store
Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-Click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator - accept the UAC prompt
Run the following commands in the Command Prompt window, using the Enter key at the end of each

net stop sppsvc
(wait until the service has stopped before entering the following lines)

CD %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
REN tokens.dat tokens.bar
net start sppsvc
slui.exe

After a couple of seconds the Windows Activation dialog will appear.
You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key, or Activation may occur automatically.
If you are asked for your Key, use the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case

Reboot and Post back with a new MGADiag report.

(Note: the Line 'CD %win......\SoftwareProtectionPlatform' is all on one line - it may be broken in the Forum listing)

That still shows 27days left to activate - OEM_SLP Keys are supposed to self-activate locally on every boot.

Please post the Event logs - it may help to isolate the problem...

Open Event Viewer
click on the Windows logs entry in the left pane to expand it.
Now click on the Application entry - wait while it loads.
Click on 'File' in the menu bar and select Save...
Save the file as Appevt.evtx
Repeat for the System log
then zip both, and upload them.

At this point in time I've restored laptop back to BEFORE installing the so called 'fix' update KB3024777.

My question is; Install or not to install?

Does that mean that KB3004394 is still installed? - or did you go back to before that was installed as well?

Hi Noel,

Neither KB3024777 nor KB3004394 show in my 'Installed Updates'

'Activate Windows' pop-up still appears and has me now sitting at 26 days to do so.

Have original key but for some reason it's not being accepted when I try and activate.

Totally at a loss as to what to do next.

*The pop-up just appeared as I post this. :confused::cry::(

OK - in that case, try this... (again?)

What AV are you using?
Please disable real-time scanning/protection and reboot

If the notification has disappeared, re-enable real-time scanning and reboot again

If the notification is still present, first check whether the real-time scanning is still switched off If so, then re-enable it and post the result. If it's turned itself back on then tell me or try again using a different disable option.
