Same here. What is nice is the idea of standardizing all USB cables. However, most new cables that came out in the past were supposed to do the same so I'll believe it when I see it.

I'm one of those that like new things and improvements in technology. Wireless display screens is very interesting.
I would like to see a wireless mechanical keyboard of quality. Of course with some kind of keylogger protection.

Hi there

I LIKE the USB reversible connector --such a simple idea why did it take so long !!!. I also like faster and higher capacity SSD like storage. Can't say I'm too bothered about laptop chargers - I've never lost one and in any case a generic 17 - 21 V DC adaptors with appropriate connectors have been around for the proverbial "Donkey's Years". 99% of laptops run on that sort of voltage.

DDR4 memory is fine if it's cheaper -- but the speed of even the fastest SSD's will have to improve by a step function if they are to even begin to approximate to RAM speed. I already have the Wifi ax protocol.

What I think is missing here is the ability to wirelessly transmit VIDEO to alternate devices with no lag or cables -- that way using multiple monitors (also very large one's) will be a breeze. I'm sure there will be a whole host of other technology not even mentioned such as decent 3-D monitors, genuine Holographic projection and some proper implementation of VR (Aka Star Trek's holodeck - requires though ENORMOUS compute power even by todays standards).

Is that news? Or is it simply what we've expected (and received) year by year over the last several decades ... and we can expect more of the same in the future?

A few of the items are of interest: new USB, and wireless displays.

But I don't see how any of this can fly under the title "The PC's future is so bright, you gotta wear shades".

I resolved the upside down USB issue long ago with sticky dots. See the dot and you're good to go.

As to time I've saved, I figure I broke even considering the time taken to stick the dot on, but the frustration level is way down.

Now why couldn't the manufacturers just put that dot on there for you? Are dots expensive?

But, but.... they Do!

Every USB connector has 4 square holes, 2 on each side. On one side the holes are covered with the plastic tongue that holds the 4 leads, on the other the holes are hollow. So for USB 3 the "down side" has blue holes. USB 2 connectors are a little harder, cause some have black tongues, but still, the plastic covered holes are the "down side". White tongues are even easier to see.

Edit: And the universal USB symbol is always on the "Up Side" of all 8 connectors I just looked at.

I'm amazed by the number of people who have trouble figuring out which way to insert a USB connector. It's not rocket science. At worst, one has a 50/50 chance of getting it right the first time and should get it right in no more than two tries.

Anyway, we really need two dots. One on the plug. Another on the socket. My sockets have no markings of any kind.

My eyes have trouble seeing that mark on the USB cables in dim light especially the black ones. I don't think my old eyes are going to get any better.

I use a system of different color dots on both ends so I know what they are. On the horizontal plugs all is well on the vertical plugs I stick a dot on the proper side of the plug. I also keep a list of the color codes. Works for me.

agreed on that one -- also if some of your gear is in an awkward position it's not easy to see even if they ARE marked and connect correctly.

As for not being "Rocket science" -- a lot of things are like that but people still get into a muddle.

I like the usb connector idea.
One one of my computers the back is troublesome to get to.
On other computer is so high I have to use a stool to use the usb ports.

If I could just install the usb connector either way would be handy but not a game braker.
