Solved 12GB USB Flash Card

I just purchased the Aspire One 722-BZ1967 with x64 C50 W7 Home Premium at Walmart which will be delivered tomorrow.

I reviewed the users guide on Acer USA as I was curios about creating a backup of the OS. I was surprised to see that there is a USB Flash Card method for accomplishing this process.

I intend to use this procedure with a 12GB USB Flash Drive, however, for confirmation I would request opinions pro/con if this is the best way to do it.

You may just barely be able to backup win 7 (which version? start, home, pro, ultimate) but far too soon y our win 7 partition will be too large to back up on 12 gigs.

My win 7 partition is 26 gigs (32 bit) atm so a more long term solution might be a better idea.

I entirely agree with ZigZag, with the price of portable USB HDDs so cheap ,It may be worth investing some cash and buying a decent sized one Using macrium to back up a disc image Macrium Reflect FREE Edition - Information and download

Have you tried pressing <Alt+F10> at boot up, to goto the Acer eRecovery Management.

As I stated in my question, this is a dual core x64 W7 Home Premium OS.

I'm not sure if I really need the SP1 because it will only be used for browsing & Email

If your partition is 26GB 32 bit to me that means 13GB 64bit.

I thought the same as you about the 12GB and originally entertained a 16GB Flash Card and I'll probably get it.

My other laptop is x64 W7 Home and it uses 11.2GB

I just received this Acer and much to my surprise it has W7 HP SP1 installed.

After I fired it up I received another 50 W7 updates.

This netbook has a special recovery procedure whereby you can select between a flash drive or a external USB optical DVD drive. I bought a cheap 16GB flash drive which I used and the total backup was 8.7GB.

Since this my 1st adventure in the Netbook world I was confused by the operational changes they have versus normal laptop operations.

Now that I think about it, I don't remember seeing much about Netbooks in this forum or maybe I just missed them.
