Greetings!

This is my first post here. As I am new to Windows 7 and never learned Vista, I am sure this will not be my last post.

I am the founder of a Paranormal Investigative Team in Florida.
I recently purchased a very inexpensive Laptop (eMachine) with windows 7. The lap top has only 2 USB ports. My night vision cameras (MiniDV's) use a 6 pin firewire connection.
I purchased a cable for USB to Firewire connection but Windows 7 has no compatibility/Driver it appears.
My question is how can I work around this or, does anyone know of a driver for this?

Thanks for the time and consideration!

David

Welcome

You can use an earlier driver (vista, or XP) if you install the driver in compatibility mode. To do that right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS

Let us know if you need help

Hi David and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

Are you planning on using your cameras whilst connected to your laptop, or is this solely to download images that you have taken? If it is merely to download previously captured images, have you considered a card reader and removing the memory card from the camera and reading it directly via the reader? There are card readers available which can read virtually every form of memory card currently available. What type of memory cards do your cameras take?

Hey, Thanks for the welcome.
1st note, I'm actually having trouble finding a driver. I think I'm going to try to connect to an XP machine and see what happens. I'm not sure I can switch Windows 7 to an XP/Vista mode that will automatically detect my plug & Play hardware.

The MiniDV is a Sony, it uses tape. So, Mu only way to upload to the computer is VIA the firewire connection. So, the USB to Firewire cable I have is what I need to make work... I think!
