I have windows 7 professional, and I heard it could use 192 Gb of ram. I was kind of disappointed when I saw only 16 GB of my ram was usable. Help?

So suckish, I don't wanna say.
So where do you see these things?

I am sure you do not have 192gb of ram
It will show the amount that you have as usable or a little less

I'm not saying I have 192 GB of ram, I'm saying I've seen it can use that much. I HAVE 24 GB of ram, and 16 GB usable.

This Microsoft sheet lists the various RAM limits for 7.

Memory Limits for Windows Releases (Windows)

Even if you're using x64 with a 192GB limit, your usable RAM will be determined by what your mobo can handle. For that info you'd probably have to check your user manual or go to the manufacturer's website.

Have you done any tweaking with Windows settings? If you change the RAM options in the msconfig advanced boot options, it can affect the amount of usable RAM.

My mobo can handle 24 GB.

I have seen this problem before:

1) Just because you can install 24GB of RAM in the motherboard does not mean it can use it.

2) Even if the manufacture of the MB says it will use 24GB of RAM that many only be true if you have the latest BIOS and the correct revision of the MB. You may have revision B and you have to have revision D before you have access to 24GB of RAM. Your owner’s manual and the web site many NOT tell you this and the only way to find out is to call the manufacture’s tech support.

3) Miss match RAM. I have had a MB report that it has 24GB of RAM and everything looks good in BIOS only to have less in the OS. Swapping RAM for all matched fixed the problem.

Just a few notes from the field.

Have you tried running a Ram Test Utility to see if it also only sees 16 GB ??????? :geek:
So you have six 4 GB sticks ????? and only four can be seen by the OS ???

GO to Start and type in resmon and it will show how your ram is being used. Windows 7 uses ram different. Just let Windows 7 handle it. Some is in reserve, standby, ect. No tweaking is recommended by me.

How much RAM is being reported by the BIOS when you boot up? This is usually reported in MB, so it should say 24576MB if all your RAM is recognised.
