1GB memory stick appears corrupt. Any data recovery options?

I agree. I too think it is the flash drive. However most of these recovery tools were designed to only un-delete stuff on a working properly drive. I can modify the CMD program to scan a corrupt drive that doesn't have a working file system. I don't know how to exactly explain it other than something in the drive is seriously messed up and im trying to get around it lol.

The reason I am working so hard is you said bad copy pro WAS able to scan a few sectors. Now that i know that im trying to get in lol.

In the end you will be using this program to restore your drive as it is free and bad copy pro is not..... And in my opinion the photorec program is slightly more powerful anyway.

We will give it a shot and hope for the best.

P.S. Sorry this project has been so long and tedious. I hope we can get it resolved here pretty soon.

sigh..... i dont think it is going to work... its scanned 1900 sectors in about 20 hours

let me try the photorec, i tried that program on my laptop first and it locked up similar to how bad copy pro is locking up... ill give it a shot on my more powerful desktop though

Just looked at bad copy pro. It said It scanned 1900 sectors and they were all bad sectors. That doesn't sound promising.

Those errors in cmd will be bad sectors. Just hope for some good sectors. If it finds any it will put them in the recovery folder. But at this point they all look like bad sectors.

Ok if all the sectors come up as bad sectors maybe we could try this.

These pieces of bad data are unreadable to the operating system unless they are repaired, and if some of your data is lost to a bad sector, you may be able to recover it with the help of the chkdsk program.

It says usb hard drive. Not usb flash drive. Just saw that now. Well if worst comes to worst i wonder what happens if we try it lol. Who knows it might work all the same.

Hope it doesn't turn into the picture. Meanwhile i will look for an actual flash drive solution my bad.

photorec is up to 60966 bad sectors, should I just stop it? it says about 24 hours remaining

or can i run the chkdsk with photorec running as well?

I don't think it would be a good idea running both at the same time. I am looking on the internet and people are saying the the chkdsk x:/r method doesn't work the same in flash drives. Just let photorec keep checking until i find an answer that i think might work better.

Well I have looked on the internet and i haven't found any GOOD data on bad sectors and flash drives. It sounds like once the sector is bad in the flash drive that is that.

I suppose we could try the chkdsk x:/r but i don't think we will be successful. So i leave it up to you. There are 3 choices.

We can give up and just toss the drive.
We can let photorec keep scanning and see if anything is salvageable. If not then we can toss the drive.
Or last we can try chkdsk x:/r and if it doesn't work toss the drive.

Im sorry it has come down to this. I gave it my best shot.

Hopefully they make flash drives much more reliable in the future. I wonder if ssd's have the same problem.

In case if you have got corrupted memory stick then, simply make use of Remo
Recover. I have personally used this software on my memory stick and hope it
helps you too in making data recovery with great ease...

What don't I understand?
You are trying to save a 1 gb memory stick; is that correct?
