Just bought 1st laptop ASUS G73SW , salemean said if im leaving it plugged in all the time , to leave the battery out .

Is this a good idea , or should it be in at all times ?

Your salesman was quoting some " old school " advice.
For new computers nowadays, it does not matter any more.
