2 anti virus in one pc?

The real wonder for me is how some of the computer problem itself were cause by the AV's itself. I came across thread with BSOD,High RAM usage that eventually were caused by AV program.

I'm not the least surprized actually. For many complaints heard about problems with pc games people are often told their hardwares are not good enough only to find that the av program simply needed to be disabled in order to see some game run without freezeups.

Too often a new game or app when run will have something seen by the av as malware and the active shield or residential guard kicks in and blocks the execution of some process needed. I run into this with a dvd burning app where the optical drives simply are not seen with one av program even installed while it is disabled.

I went with an updated software to replace that actually waits until some form of malware is found and then it blocks the malware while not interfering with the programs you already have on. And it's almost unnoticable for the rest of the time unlike many programs that tie up resources due to some degree of bloat.

The old ATI catalysts before AMD bought them out were known to cause problems for gamers. You would exit the CCC before starting a game up to get around that one.

No this was years back before Vista was even out seen on the old AGP models. The Cat.s would be bugless and still cause problems with several different titles but not all. The support at the time simply advised exiting the CCC itself when going to game.

I'm running McAfee (came with the PC) and finally installed MSE despite warning about running multiple AV's.

MSE runs very nicely in the background, I haven't seen any performance degradation and MSE actually caught a couple things McAfee didn't.

I've always heard you're not supposed to run 2 AV's as this can cause a conflict (In the case of some AV's, it really does), however not one AV gets everything, so if you can run MSE without any probs, goferit

The MS SE is not a resource grabber at all like some av products. It used to be that if one program was on the next program would stall until the first was removed during the installation.

Some combos of two will still see some of that still while I now run one program that replaces the MS SE as well as the IE security bar option in AVG. When any malicious or suspect code is detected in any site the site is blocked out entirely by the built in firewall. This is two in one but you wouldn't even know it was on since it runs quietly in the background and doesn't grab at resources.

It's not free however other then the option for a 30day trial and put to the test lately here. And this is one that does avoid interferring with any of your usual programs while others effect some. That's another benefit seen with it.
