2 audio outputs? Help with sound card

Hey, I know this is a topic that must have came up so many times, but after trying several methods on Google, I've had no luck.

So yeh, I'm wanting to have 2 separate audio outputs. So I first had an output coming from the motherboard. I then added a sound card as I beleived this would allow me a second audio output. Now however, I can only get sound from the sound card. To test I have speakers plugged into the sound card & headphones into the motherboard.

Some (possibly) useful system info:
Windows 7 Pro (64 bit)
ASRock 880G Extreme3 (Socket AM3) DDR3 PCI-Express Motherboard
Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Fatal1ty Xtreme Gamer Sound Card

As far as I know windows can only use one device at a time so the only thing that you can do would be to change the default device when you want to switch.

townsbg is correct. You can only have one default audio playback device. e.g. either the added sound card or the Integrated audio.

I'm having the same problem atm, all the 'solutions' I've tried have been in vain ._.
I'm starting to hate windows 7 for this really, this is so stupid that they don't have something like this, and it's even hard to set it up.
L.E: Follow this, it's just great http://theitbros.com/hotkey-to-switch-audio-devices though you won't be able to listen to both simultaneously, it's still better than doing 5 clicks every time you want to switch.

I have been using two cards for quite a long time and had no problems - just the hassle of choosing the sound output device for some apps. The main card was an Audigy and the secondary was an onboard (quite good).
