Dear all,

I hope you can assist me in shedding som light on this.

I have an old beta build of win 7 (7057) and the RC running on the same machine - installed on separete drives.

one the old build the wireless is working fine - but on the RC it will only connect to the wireless if I disable the encryption.
I have tried all the different options my Netgear router gives me for security - but none of them makes any difference.

when I try to logon - it asks for the password and then says unable to connect. The trouble shooter blames the router - but if I shutdown and logon to the old build - there is no problem.

any ideas?

It has to be something relating to the computer and encryption. could you tell us more about the wifi card, kind of encryption used, etc

The wifi comes from the motherboard - it is the ASUS m2n32 sli deluxe board. This means that the wireless adapter is the RTL8187

I've tried with WEP, WPA-PSK(TKIP), WPA2-PSK(AES) and WPA-PSK [TKIP] + WPA2-PSK [AES] - all with the same result. When I change - the two other computers on the network disconnect and request the password and then logon fine and the same with the old build - but the new one takes the password and then says unable to connect.

When I then remove the encryption (sets it to none in the router) then I'll be allowed to logon with the new build as well

One thing I have noticed while playing around with this - is that the new build does not seem to keep an internet profile.
On the old build, it will complain that the requirements for logon on the computer does not match the wireless connection, if I change the encryption setup. Then I'll go to the profiles and delete the active profile and logon on again, giving the correct password.

For the new build - there is never a profile under "Manage wireless networks"
