My 2 GB Kingstone USB pen drive is suddenly not being recognized on any computer or device. It was working perfectly fine, but all of a sudden it seems to be bricked. It receives power (it gets warm), but the indicator light doesn’t light up. What is the solutions?

Do you get the sound Windows makes when you insert it?

So it is not recognized in any of your machines, right? Can you post a screenshot of Disk Management while it's inserted in a USB port. Before making the screenshot maximize the window and adjust the panes/columns to maximize info.

Not good...

While the drive is inserted can restart the machine and rather than letting it boot into Windows, go into the BIOS and see if you can find the BIOS page that deals with USB devices to see if it's recognized there.

Sir, Actually other pen drives are easily detected on my PC. But that pen drive is suddenly not being recognized on any computer or device.

Yes, I was assuming that you had already determined it was that USB only and that others likely worked.

But what I want to know is if the machine itself can see it, even though Windows cannot. That's why I was asking for you to check to see if the machine's BIOS recognizes it. Do you know how to get into the BIOS?

Did pressing F2 get you into the BIOS? If you did get into the BIOS were you able to find the page that deals with USB devices?

Did it just boot directly into Windows, even after pressing F2?

Can you fill in your system specs or let me know what make/model of PC you've got?

What FSing is pointing to with an F key is the boot device menu which lists the types of drives hard drive, optical drive, usb hard drive, card reader, etc. With a pair of 2gb Kingston flash drives used I suddenly found I could no longer write an iso and make it bootable for things like GParted live while you could still format it.

I suspect the drive you have there simply gave out on you since no removable drive other then optical was shown in the screen you posted. As far as entering the bios setup, generally pressing the DEL key, the advanced section is where you typically set the boot device such as optical or hard drive. When having more then one hard drive present internal or external such as a flash drive you highlight that and press the enter to bring up the list of drives in order to move one drive to the top of the list to be made the default boor drive.

The usb settings found in the bios are generally for enabling usb keyboard/mouse support.

have a look at the USB connector on the thumb drive and make sure there isn't any pocket lint etc blocking one of the pins. Other than that its likely defective/failed.
