2 installs has left 2 copies of Win7 on my drive

I've been left with two versions of Windows 7 on my hard-drive after twice installing it from an upgrade-disc. I want to know how to get rid of the earlier version if possible.

Using an upgrade disc, I did a custom install on an old XP machine. Unfortunately this install ran grindingly slow because the entire CPU was being eaten up by 'System Interrupts'. I eventually rolled the machine back to XP, which created a 'Win 7' folder containing the old 7 OS on my PC.

I then did a second custom install from the disc. Again it was slow, but this time I managed to identify and disable the hardware conflict at the root of it. Now everything runs fine.

The 'Win 7' folder from the first install is still there however. It doesn't appear under 'Remove previous versions' in Disc Cleanup and I can't find any other way of removing it. I've tried unlocker, changing permissions and deleting it in Safe Mode, but none of these have worked.

Does anyone have any advice? I have a relatively small hard drive and the 8gb being taken up by the 'Win 7' folder is badly needed.

SOLVED! Changed folder name to Windows.old and removed it via Disk Cleanup.

Did you install both OS on same partition? This can cause problems beyond removal of the Windows folder.

If you installed them to separate partitions, post back a screenshot of full Disk Mgmt drive map, using Snipping Tool in Start Menu, attaching file using paper clip in reply box. We can advise you how to delete the partition and recover the space into Win7, repair the MBR if necessary.
