hey guys, i'm getting a cable connection this weekend which is going to be rated at 15Mbps my current connection is at 15Mbps from a DSL Line. basically what i want to do is run them both through my computer which is a core i7 with 2 built in NiCs, i read somewhere that you can bridge the 2 NiCs togther inorder to create a faster connection and or improve your performance. basically all i want to do is double my connection. is this possible? i am quite smart with computers so i'm sure if its going to be hard i can accomplish it. that second NiC is going to waste without a second connection going to it.

You aren't going to be able to bridge a connection between two different ISP's. Also, if you think about this, you would have 2 NIC's with 2 IP addresses and 2 default gateways. So, unless you plan to set up some pretty elaborate static routes to send out some of your traffic 1 way and the rest of your traffic the other way you really aren't going to benefit from this type of configuration.

i do have 2 routers i could setup with the same gateway + ip address, would that work?

example:
isp 1 to router 1
isp 2 to router 2
both configured the same, connected to the 2 nics and bridged

no, no matter how you combine networks in your home the data will have to be split between them some how. But since you can't use both ISPs for 1 connection you have to decide how to split it yourself.

The nic bonding your thinking about is only from your computer to the switch, that way your have redundancy and 2x the speed but only the to switch.

depending on what you would want to use your internet for you could put 1 heavy bandwidth app on 1 connection and everything else to the 2nd. If you use torrents/p2p many will allow you to bind to 1 NIC, use that and some static routes to force traffic from a few app/protocols to ISP1 and other traffic can go to ISP2
