Hi 7forum,

I wanted to upgrade my pc with an SSD drive 60gb and run the win7 os and some other programs to get some speed. I want to use the old HDD for other programs that i dont use as much and to save files like movies, pics, music etc. On.

I connected the ssd while os on hdd and formatted it etc. After that i unplugged the hdd and installed win7 on the ssd. Now i dont know what to do with the hdd. Can i plug it in without any prob?

I want to transfer all files except os from hdd and then clean it, am i just supposed to reconnect it or will there be a twist with 2 os?

And how does the cpu know which ones the bootdrive?

The text might be unclear... pls help me and ask if somethings missing in the text

Plug it in. Make sure the ssd is connected to port1 ( sata1 ) and the hard drive to port2 ( sata2 ) on the motherboard, fire it up. Should boot to the ssd.

I think I said this before.

And be sure that the SSD remains set first to boot in BIOS setup, after DVD drive.

Best to move the data off HD then wipe it with Diskpart Clean Command to repartition in Disk Mgmt. But if you lack space to back it up, then move data off of Win7 partition to a data partition then delete the OS partition on HD to Recover Space Used by an Older OS .

The easiest way is to link your User folders from HD by adding them to the related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums .

Install Programs and paging file to SSD to benefit from the speed.

To boot with the OS on the SSD you have to change the bootorder in the BIOS. Your first splash screen should tell you which function key to tap in order to get into the BIOS bootorder menu.
