--I don't know what this is called, so I can't look it up. On my new installation, if a resized window gets near the edge of the screen, it maximizes and makes the window flash for a moment.

--I'm using the Classic theme, similar to XP. The text in Windows Explorer is too small, and there's no setting for that in Ctl Panel>Personalization>Window Color.

Regarding your first issue, I think you're probably referring to Windows 7 "Snap" (to edge).

For the second issue, if you're talking about the folder and filenames in an Explorer window, try adjusting the icon font size. I also use a (customized) "Classic" theme, and on my system the labels under the desktop icons share the same font settings as text in a file explorer window.

I've been using Windows 25 years, didn't know they shared the font. Duh.:o

Well, to be honest, it's been long enough that I had forgotten which settings were associated with what. In the interest of full disclosure, though, I had just reinstalled a Win7 VM last month and had to go futzing around myself, trying to remember that very setting to adjust the fonts in my VM, so it was still fresh in my mind.
