I have a Intel 510 ssd and I looking to add another ssd. Can you have both if they have different firmware. I'm looking at several including Intel 320.
Will this confuse the motherboard bios or Windows 7?

I don't think it will give any problems just because of firmwares. After all, it's entirely internal to each device. As long as each one has the proper drivers and the motherboard recognizes each one, they should work.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think it would matter at all but just wanted some input from others to make sure. Find out if anybody was having any problems doing such a thing.
The ssd's will not be Raid.
I'm thinking their must be members that have done this.
I working on something for the future and like to get all my ducks in a row before spending money.
My 510 has very old firmware compared to the new ssd's.
It works quiet well but still very costly. I don't see why it would be any different that a ssd and hard drive but who knows. Computers do strange things at times.

I say no problem. Each hard drive is uniquely identified by the system. The firmware may be the same, but that unique identifier will always be different. Carry on!

Firmware is the controller's own programming. As long as it does not suck (always check reviews before pulling $$$ from pockets), you can have all SSDs you want running together.
