Automatic updates: KB2507938, KB2532531, KB2555917, KB2529073, KB2533623, KB982018 installed themselves on my system tonight. On restart it gets hung up on 'Configuring Updates, 32% ...' I let it go for 1 hour.

Restart - 'Configuring Updates, 32% ...'
Restart in safe mode - System Restore.
Restart. All going fine. Then update says I must restart my system to have updates take effect. I do..
Restart - 'Configuring Updates, 32% ...'

Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?

I have done a second system restore to make my PC usable again. And updates are now 'OFF' until further notice.

This coupled with the fact that Win7 has NEVER EVER restarted, or shutdown without me pushing the buttons is starting to think this is Vista MKII:mad:

I wonder why they were installed so late. They were released more than a week ago.

I work away. On a remote mine-site. The computer was turned off.

Ah. That explains it. I was concerned that you might have a problem accessing Windows Update. If you are going to stack up updates for some time I would agree that turning off the automatic download and applying them a few at a time is the best option but apply them in the order they are downloaded sometimes an earlier one is a prerequisite of a newer one. Windows Update usually sorts this out but not always.

KB982018 is a troublesome update, I had an issue just like this and narrowed it down to this one.

Try removing this one or not checking the box to let it download. let us know what happens.
