Here we go. Im having loads of BSODs and no skills dealing with them. Ive attached the recommende debug files. My perfmon is written in Danish. If it is completely nonsense let me know what to translate. Thanks. Virtual beer is rewarded for any help!

I tried to install MSE. Unfortuneately it cannot update to get the newest definitions. It says im unable to get updates because my windows update client is not functioning.

Sounds like deep trouble to me..

While bad RAM is possible, I suspect it is software-related.

I wonder if AVG is causing the issue. Please remove it with this tool: http://download.avg.com/filedir/util/avg_arv_sup_____.dir/avgremoverx64.exe

Replace it with MSE: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials

Please remove any CD virtualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%. They use a driver, found in your dmp, sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs. Use this SPTD uninstaller when you're done: DuplexSecure - Downloads

Hello guys. Thanks for helping me.

I dont believe i got a HW problem. Memtest86 has never spotted any problem despite 24h runs. neither has the BIOS program that tests RAM.

I had problems removing AVG9. The suggested tool just stalled when looking for a file. I tried the standard way of removing AVG, but it stalled when I asked it to remove user settings as well. When I choose just to uninstall but preserve the setting AVG got uninstalled.

As mentioned earlier I tried MSE, but it has trouble updating its malware definitions. It is caused by a nonworking windows update service. I cant use the regular windows update either.

When I want to close down the computer it has 14 updates ready for installation, but the computer shuts down while processing the first update.

Havent seen af BSOD since my AVG removal. I also used the other removal tool for sptd.sys.

Yes, as far as I can see.

Tell you what. Delete all the dump files in C:\Minidump, and if you get another BSOD, follow the BSOD Posting Instructions again.

FYI the sptd-removal tool cannot locate any sptd.sys so it wont let me repeat the removal. I think im good here.


And the removal tool for AVG finished off AVG while I was in safe mode. When i run it now, it will just look for files and eventualy quit the cmd-window.

Both removals appear to be succesfull.

Well if you cant even complete an SFC it is time to start thinking a repair (or clean) install.

You still have old drivers in the most current DMP Even your video driver is over a year old

Well im not sure if my computer is able to do a sfc. I just had the BSOD while i was trying. I havent tried to reproduce .. yet.

It would be nice if the computer could get back in shape without any reinstallation.

I agree drivers from 2003 should get updated. Google tells me it is related to broadcom network drivers. Should i update my network driver?

My videodriver is the newest driver recommended from dell for my vostro 430. I can update it to latest generic nvidia if that would be better?

Im doing a new BSOD_Windows7_Vista_v3.02_jcgriff2_ , but there is no new BSOD. so far..

Easiest way is to search for the name and look at the modifed date. Failing that wait for the next BSOD.

How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

BASFND.sys belongs to BACS3 which is a management app from broadcom. It was preinstalled when I got the computer.

If it is still to be considered a problem I can remove BACS3 entirely. The network card should work without it.

Or else I will proceed with enable driver verifier.

Or wait for a new BSOD?
