OKay so I bet everyone on here has heard about this 2012 thing that is supposed to happen on DEC. 21 2012. What do you people think is going to happen.. ?

Okay, personally I think that nothing will happen. I think the day will continue like every other day does, and we will Christmas shop. And I know that these days did not happen..

"Y2K, May 21 2004, May 21 2010 etc" People are also talking about October 21 2011 being "The End Of The World"

Give an educated guess..

I don't think that the series of events prophesized for Dec 21, 2012 will actually happen on or near Dec 21 2012 -- but I DO think that it is possible that some or all of them could happen at some time in the future.

However, I also think that the FEAR of this prophesy could cause some self-engendered effects of their own --- sort of like 'self-fulfilled prophesies' in the sense that we could very likely have a situation of many, many scared people running amuk, buying out all of the basic supplies (i.e. water, canned goods, flashlights, etc) and causing a tremendous amount of shortage and chaos for the rest of us.

I think it's already begun but will peak on or near prophesied dates. There are several theories floating around with a number of catastrophes. I personally like the Mayan Mantle Shift during planetary allignment theory... With the number of earthquakes and radical climate changes in the last few months, this looks to be possible.

Nah. That's all just natural phenomenon - the earth has always gone through periods of more and less intense earthequake activity and changes in climate.

The mantle shift sounds interesting, but completely non-plausible : the distance between ourselves and the other planets are far to great to impart any greater gravitational force than we already experience, alignment or not.

We should be far more worried by some rogue asteroid that we haven't yet discovered, impacting our planet.

I find this subject quite interesting. And while theres a lot of junk out there, thats total non-sense, I do think there are some facts and truths to it all.


The entire pole shift theory could be possible for example..

Aside from increasing amounts of Earthquakes, Solar flares etc. , there are supoposed to be 3 main events that signal everything is near.

And that is the 3 eclipses that are supposed to happen all in 2012.
If I recall correctly, a Lunar Eclipse, a Eclipse of Venus and the the mother of all Eclipses.. the Eclpise of the Galactic Center which is supposed to happen every 25,800 years.

I find this prediction interesting,simply because our modern technology can confirm these are indeed supposed to happen. makes you wonder how the Mayans knew. perhaps it is as they said. The world has been destroyed and rebuilt 4 times before. We are approaching the 5th. And thier calander is the countdown of this ancient knowledge.

No one knows exactly what happens when we align with the center, perhaps nothing at all.
But they do know theres a black hole there. Perhaps it wreaks havok with Earths magnetic fields and gravity?


At any count, If you are to believe the Mayan predictions, it doesn't actually mean the "End of the World"
It has happened before, according to them and many others, and things rebuilt.

In fact, the calendar doesnt just stop in Dec. 2012. Dec. 2012 is just the end of the Long Count, a 25800 year cycle, at which point we enter a New Age,
The Age of Aquarius, and the calender starts over with its 25,800 year countdown.



It seems every religion has stories of the world being destroyed and then moving into a New Age.
For example we are in the Age of Picies now, symbolized by the fish.

So, Im not sure everything will just come to an end.
But I do think it may stir up a lot of problems.

How on earth did the galaxy get along without the Mayans predicting it's behavior? They knew what bout how the universe works exactly?

It is both a tremendous blessing and horrible curse that the human mind is to adept at discovering patterns. Patterns where they exist and patterns where there is absolutely nothing. (To futher the universe theme, just look at the constellations...)

This is an example of the curse. How much energy and panic is just completely WASTED on this kind of thing anyway We just had to go through two moronic rapture scares and y2k. Can 2012 PLEASE be the end of it? At least until y3k or something? (I suppose we have 2112 to go through then too, thankfully I'll be dead!)

Nope, not heard of it, don't go to the cinema or watch movies on TV and I don't go in for listening to scare tactics or rumours so if the worlds going to end there's not much I can do about it so why worry.

It was the rapture that was supposed to be happening. and lots of church goers hopped in vans and toured the country warning people. And then it happened. The end of the world! It just takes a while
