comparing 23inch desktop and 27inch desktop

1920 x 1080 at 23inch ( SAMSUNG S23A550H )

and

1920 x 1080 at 27 inch ( SAMSUNG S27A550H )

both comparing on SAPPHIRE HD 6570

What's the difference in viewing experience?

I think on 27 inch screen will be larger by (keeping resoltions same on both ) as compared to the screen on 23inches and therefore on 27inch may feel degraded visual quality. Is it really the case? what's ur opinion.

Actually I am planning to upgrade my 23inch ( very recent bought ) with 27inch model as my Desktop screen. Becuase of the recent bought, I have limited time for this exchange offer to get 27inch in place of 23inch with extra bucks.

please comment.

Depends on how you want to use it...

If it's just for the desktop, I think that 27 in is just too large for a 1920x1080 screen :/ It really is more of a TV that is also a monitor. If you were using it from like across the room or on a VERY large desk from 4 or 5 feet away then maybe it would be good.

But a 24 in 1920x1080 screen is pretty big on the desktop as it is.

Now if it were a 2400x1550 or something, the 27in might make more sense (though you still need a big desk :D)

For near $400 though, I'd look for a 24in 1920 x 1200 display. Much more screen real estate and you can get an IPS panel which looks much better than any 1080 TN (TV) panel will for about $450 or so... Though they are hard to find. Had to mail order mine :(

they have the same number of pixels - the bigger screen will have larger pixels, and may look a bit blocky if viewed close up.

as fseal said (honked?), it depends how close you'll be sitting to the monitor in everyday use.

27" @ 1080P isn't that bad at normal viewing distances. My brother bought one a month or so ago and my dad bought one a few days after.
both upgraded from 24" screens. I'd get one but my desk can only hold 3 23" screens, and I prefer multiple screens to one large screen.

Thanks guys for your opinions,

my sitting arrangment would be 3ft to a max 4ft for PC works and occassionally when viewing movies I will site little backward.

Currently I am running 1920 x 1080 at 23inch ( SAMSUNG S23A550H ) on SAPPHIRE HD 6570 via HDMI to HDMI cable

Somehow I am not much satisfied with results. perhaps I must have opted for IPL instead of this partial LED (edges only)

After many adjustments it is better view now, ( but not tempting to me).
When viewing from 3ft, white backgrounds have very slight color(or perhaps grey) tints. White is not white in those areas just around the area of my eyes attention. Perhaps this is by design.

I believe this problem will be upsized in 27inch so I may keep 23inch.

wanna suggest a better graphic card for me?
light to medium gaming only, autocad, photoshop, movies, still pics.

big monitor needs big graphic card?
ATI or nVIDIA for my case?
GDDR3 ( current) , GDDR5 will do better?

please suggest

I bought a 27" at 1920 x 1080 and am very unhappy at the low resolution compared to my 24" monitors... If I were to do it again, buying a 27" would have to be a much higher resolution, or I'd just stick with the smaller size to get the better quality picture.... 27 at 1080 is ok for watching movies and such, but for any graphics it's junk....

In my opinion it all depends on what you are doing with it and then even then it comes back to the same. I had a 27" lcd tv/monitor and I loved it. I then went to 2 23" led's and will never go back to one screen again and in fact I use my latop now as well and toggle back and forth between 4 screens. If you're heavy gaming then it's all about resolution and low ms speeds. If you're gaming heavy then I would consider 2 x 24" as a perfect set up only bettered by 3 x 24" is you have the real estate. For business then the 27" is wicked but again once you gain the 2nd screen for productivity you'll never go back to one screen. So for business ideal 2 x 23 / 2 x 24 / 2 x 27 or 1 x 27. Look for major brand names like Samsung/LG/HP/NEC/ASUS and get the lowest ms you can afford along with the highest resolution. They all ship with crazy high brightness settings so setting them up properly is key as is how you cable them. My suggestion is all HDMI connected if possible. I dig my LG's but If I had it do over and a larger budget get 3 x 24" Samsung's and a adjustable stand and be prepared for the time of your life !

Any large screen monitor, when I will use it as PC monitor, I have to make a sitting arrangement nearer (no matter how large is the screen ) so I can read text, see icons, distinguish objects so I must not be far away from screen. should stay at or nearer my desk for sevral things, writing, mouse access, acess to any other material on my desk. working on PC is different than watching movie/ playing games. To watch movies, playing games etc. I can have more farther distance from my screen. I do'nt have

I believe at my sitting arrangement 27inch will show items upsized at same resolution so more rough visual experience. Yeah for games/movies on 27inch I can see smoother at little more distance.

I am then thinking of keeping at 23inch x2 ( 2nd monitor later) instead of 27inch.

Also for a perfect photographic experience my buddy recommending for IPL over TN or wait for new advancements.

But please suggest some better graphic card for me. Current card in use mentioned above SAPPHIRE HD6450. Again asking, big monitor 20inch+ needs better graphic card? recommend from ATI and nVidia both.

thanks folks

You don't need a better card for a larger monitor, you need a better card if the resolution goes higher.
Example, 27" 2560x1440 will need a better card for gaming since there are 3.6 Million Pixels, 30" 2560x1600 has 4.1 Million, and a 70" 1920x1080 monitor only has 2.1 Million Pixels.
So size doesn't matter, pixel count does.

I put an Nvidia GT240 into my nephews computer and it works great for light/medium gaming. some games like Crysis 2 had to be run at 1280x720 since 1920x1080 was too much for the card, but it was only a $35 card.

This is my third ATI graphic card in use in chain.

This is SAPPHIRE HD 6570.

somehow I am not much pelased with it now, can somebody suggest similar or little upper nVidia in that class?

I try to only recommend cards that I have personal experience with.
ATI 5770 is a decent card, not sure if the 6770 is the same, better, or worse though. ATI/AMD did a downgrade from the 5850/5870 to the 6850/6870 line, but I recommend the 6850 and 6870, which can be had for around $150, if you are spending close to $200, then I would recommend the 6950 for a tad over $200.

SAPPHIRE 6850 is in focus for me at the moment. But EVGA geforce gtx 550Ti is also same price range.

Both 1gb DDR5

I need damn good still graphics, and best viewing experience. light to moderate gaming. occasional still and video editing.

Now which one? SAPPHIRE 6850 or EVGA geforce gtx 550Ti ?

yeah usually I used to dig resources a lot before I buy a digital gagdet.
This time it became urgent need when my working XFX-HD 4350 dies suddenly and I went to buy a graphic card wihtout research/reviews on net. Returned back home with SAPPHIRE HD 6570 and Samsung 23inch LED monitor.

First thinking to exchange the deal with 27inch LED paying more bucks. But I realized it wouldn't be feasible for my case. same resolution at same distance on more upsized monitor would not be better viewing pleasure. Also I feel technology I bought is not yet perfect specially for big monitor. edge LED only rest is same. move your head and colors/quality change.

I will change this monitor when I got the things I want in some other monitor some day.

Now planning to exchange Graphic card from SAPPHIRE HD 6750 or 6790 or 6850. I expect big perfomance improvement moving from HD 6570 to ( 1gb ddr3) to hd 6750( ddr5 igb). nVidia is in similar price tag as 6850 but 6850 seems more effecient so far on the net.
