Samsung techies linked 24 of the company's 256GB SSD drives together in a RAID with the hopes of making the fast SSD drives even faster. The system actually reaches transfer speeds of 2GBps. What's that much speed mean to you?

i read somewhere that (defraging) ssd's is not a good thing but in the video
it shows them defraging the ssd's. so i guess what i'm asking is , is it (safe)
to (defrag) the drives or not?
thanks scrooge

In fact: Defrag a SSD is ... useless. As the random access time is the same wherever the data is, the fragmentation has no effect.
And: The Flash memory cells of an SSD have a life time in terms of "switch times" (O to 1 ... 1 to 0). Defrag may accelerate the usure of the memory cells.
SSD have a controller which move data on the less used zone... Then a defrag software will break all the work of this controller.
Defraging an SSD is not a good idea
So for this vidéo, they certainly mde it for the fun and just ofr the perf time of defrag 6TB in few seconds (try this on a 6TB HDD.. and take a long break!)

Yeah I don't need that fast, but I'll be getting SSD soon enough, I'm going to take a look at a 32g or 64g OS drive.
