Ok i barely purchased this laptop last week and got it on tuesday. Nothing is wrong with this issue of the ram but i am trying to wonder why on a 64-bit version would only use 1.75GB of ram if it needs 2GB (which i have anyways). Is there a way i can max that out and make it use 2GB instead of 1.75GB?

i would really appreciate the help. Thanks

That's not a shocker but what is a shocker is the 2GB of ram. 4GB is a bare minimum, practically speaking, for 64 bit systems and 8 GB is much more reasonable.

Upgrade your ram capacity and you will be doing yourself a tremendous favor.

Also have an Asus ha1002xp netbook with Win 7 Ultimate installed.
well the thing is that, the laptop acme preinstalled with 2gb and a 64 bit...which i wasnt satisfied because i just wanted a 32 bit for the 2gb ram used.
im guessing 2 options cna solve this?
1-downgrade to 32 bit.....wait is this possible?

2-buy 4 gb of ram (2x2gb) which most like cant do since im very poor lol (seriously)

what you think?

2 GB - 1.75 GB = ~256 MB, which you will most likely find is being used by the video card. That si why Windows is reporting it like it is.

I use 32-bit myself and use 4 GB except on the netbook which will only accept 2 GB.

I'm not familiar with Acme but if it's a place you can visit, I'd go back and see what I could get accomplished at no cost, otherwise, get one of your local techie friends to set up to computer to your preferences. If Belarc Security Advisor runs on 64-bit systems, then use it to get the info on your product key and other product keys on your computer.

Microsoft is rather forgiving about installation problems so you will probably be able to take a Win7 DVD and install and use the product key you saved, even if you've already "activated".

I admit that I've never tried to reinstall from 64-bit down to 32-bit and don't know what problems you can encounter, however, there are many experts here who I'm sure will have the correct answer.

if thats the case and if microsoft allows me to downgrade to 32 bit, i should do that.
also, is it still possible that if i back up the toshiba software and the software thats made for my laptop and back it on a flash drive by going to:
my computer > hard drive > my program files and click and drag the folders to flash drive and would work on the same laptop but on a 32 bit? (not that its requiring 64 bit but i like the features of my laptop that needs the software for it)

and how exactly can i back up my drivers? (since this laptop has no optical dvd/cd drive-even though its a a laptop with the size of a netbook)

sorry if im asking too much.

Hi.
800mhz ram is expensive true.
video card ? Yes !

Is it that you want to use programs that won't work in 64bit Windows ?

Have you updated BIOS, drivers etc. ?

Cheers.

your integrated video card is using 256mb of the ram so it's not accesible to the rest of the system. this is what it's supposed to be doing nothing unusual.

no. i have programs like eco utlity, pc health monitor, and other toshiba programs thats specially made for my laptop series (t100 series since mine is the t115d)
and it didnt come with the cd but toshiba did say i need like 3 dvd blacks and make a back up of my operating system, drivers and the software preloaded from the laptop with this program which i forgot.

but programs like these, cant i just clck and drag them from "my programs" list and drag them to my flash drive and it should work when i drag them back?

No, they need to be installed before you can use them.
Also the programs you talk about probably use 64bit drivers.

The drivers ( and programs would be on a Toshiba WIN 7 32bit disk just for your computer )

for those Toshiba programs would have to downloaded for 32bit i would think before you did anything drastic !

64bit or 32bit - the RAM problem is the same. Personally I prefer 32bit too, but for other reasons. As the previous poster said, it's your on-board graphics that needs the 250MBs since it has no own memory. This system will not become a race horse unless you invest a lot of money (RAM, SSD) - and still. So why don't you enjoy it as is.

I have 4gb ram but 3.2gb usable on 32bit system. I dont want to upgrade to 64bit because its not stable as 32bit so is there other solution to get those 0.8gb?
or just to pull out 1gb ram but thats not what I want to do and I think its not good to use 3ram on dual core,or Im wrong?
my processor is 64 dual core
