2TB Hard Drive won't work on Marvell 6GB SATA port

I will run an extended test over night, but I have a feeling the results will be the same. I don't think anything is wrong with the drive itself.

This may be redundant since you have one drive working, try AHCI Enable

AHCI is enabled. Apologies on the delay of that screenshot - I will post it tonight.

On another note, someone recently advised me to just use the 2TB drive on the SATA II ports, reasoning that with a 7200RPM drive I would be hard pressed to saturate even a 1.5GB channel, let alone 6GB. He suggested I use the 6GB ports for fast SSD drives only and plug regular platter drives into the other ports for mass storage. Any thoughts on this perspective?

I think that is true, even running on a SATAIII header, a platter type HDD can't fully utilize all the speed available. But your issue still is frustrating to me.:sarc:

Curiously, I unplugged my 500GB boot drive and left ONLY the 2TB drive. Guess what... I was able to install windows on the 2TB drive while it was plugged into the SATA III port. This means the issue has nothing to do with the drive or it being 2TB. Does this mean the Marvell drivers just don't support 2 drives being plugged into the SATA III ports at once?

Wow, that is odd Scoy. I have Marvell too but don't use the SATAIII ports, but had to install the driver so the SATAII ports would work.

Mine are G-SATA, for Gigabyte, and I had to configure my BIOS so only one of the SATAII will handle a HDD, if I wanted to use a RAID setup, I'd need to use the SATAIII's.

Check your mobo manual, maybe there is some sort of strange setting for your SATAIII ports to enable both to be used at one time.

You might see if Intel has a support forum of users that will respond. It is users like us who get things fixed sometimes.

More likely a problem with the Marvell BIOS or the WDC firmware. I recollect some issue with more than one WDC drives being recognized on a Marvell but couldn't remember where or what forum. Prob the Asus but I or Western Digital forums couldn't find it. If I recollect it was a WDC firmware issue.

As mentioned, you won't gain anything from the 6Gb/s on a HDD, and the Intel ports work better anyhow.
