I have looked and looked but found nothing.
Might you have seen a device that could help me?

Picture a two disk USB Docking Station.
In this case, only one of the Docking Stations slots has a 3.5" Drive in it.
The Drive can and does overheat.

I envision a device, like a mitten, slipping over the Drive and absorbing / dissipating the heat.
Perhaps there is another technique but whatever, is there a device / solution you've seen?

I use my Docking Station often, even a "homemade rig" would be helpful.
I have been balancing a metal pot on top of the Drive, but this barely helps.
Please give this situation some thought please.

Mike

If you are fortunate enough to live somewhere warm, have you considered pointing a small tabletop fan at it?

I'll shop for a small one but hope for a commercial solution.

I thought you might enjoy this photo of my "rig".

Mike

PS I tried uploading the photo of my "rig" three times, none worked.
Who cares, I do not have time in my life to be concerned as to why.

I figured it out and used Picasa to help me get it done.
Note, the Desktop Image, yes, it's a wintery scene from when we lived up North.

It is one of those days.

I needed to upgrade from the Trial Version to the Enterprise Version.
The capacity of Heat Absorbtion increased dramatically.
The Enterprise Version is Semi Water Cooled.
The Freezer Pack was an additional expense but since it is reusable, why not.
I will try my new "rig" with heating some soup later today.
Most likely Red Beans and Rice.

Have you tried googling your model to see if there is a solution? Did you google a fan? I found one.

Thank you for your suggestions however, I need to cycle through about +-100 3.5" Drives.
The Heat Sink in the photo is essentially "glued" to the 3.5" Drive.
Times 100 would be a very major expense and "may" interfere with the Drives reinstallation in the effected PC.
The Fan could / would be OK if I had just one Drive mounted in the Docking Station.
I have been trying to run Norton on one Drive and Chkdsk on the other.
If I use the Fan solution, it will help but with the volume of Drives to be checked, it will really impact the project.

I have had some ideas of a homemade solution, however with Hurricane Milton bearing down on us, getting to Stores has become an issue.

Please keep my dilemma in mind.

If Milton skuttles our home, leaving us without power and perhaps a roof, the Project will certainly be postponed perhaps forever.

I had intended to add some photos to clarify my dilemma, but the Storm is starting to cause problems.

I took the photos with my Cell Phone intending to get them to my operational PC.

When I send them to the PC, they get endlessly Queued in the Metro PCS phone system.

My guess is the Cell Phone System is getting overloaded with Storm related communications.

Hopefully, it will dissipate, and they will go through.

I'll Attach them to a future POST for the Forum to see.

Here are the four photos I wanted to upload.

REVERSE this order. I do not know how to re-arrange the photos.

Photo one is of the Dock, without any Drives in it.
Photo two is the Dock with one Drive in it.
Photo three is the Dock with two Drives in it.
Photo four is the Dock rotated 90 Degrees to show the spacing between Drives.

Again, thank you for your research and feedback.
Any additional input will be appreciated.

Mike

Point a little desk fan at it. It can sit quite close. If you have a lot of disks it will be too time consuming to use something that needs to be attached to the disks

Agreed!

I'll look locally for a "clip" on fan to hang from the Wire Shelf over the Docking Station.

Best regards,

SIW2,

Locally was China and below is the result.

Thanks again for the suggestion.

Mike

Upload failed. I need to shrink the photo. Later!

Here it is, minus the Stew Pot. I just remembered I need to wash the dishes.
