Hello-bello!

I bought Acer 7745G with HD5850, 4GB DDR3 and i430M. The OS is w7 Home Premium. During playing with cod2, wow and grid it stops for some second. Just the game freeze, mouse still work and i can hit alt+tab and go to the desk. I checked it, at this moment the HDD works 100% for that time. After that the game runs perfectly. I played with NFSShift too but it didnt make this or I have not play enough..

I updated my drivers, installed new w7 but neither helped.

Can somebody help me? This is so annoyin...

yes filling in your system specs would be helpful

also try Tips on Troubleshooting Game Issues

since you are having trouble with older DX9 games on Windows 7 I would pay close attention to this part of sygnus21's excellent post:

5 - Update your Direct X files - Contrary to popular belief, just because Windows 7 is DX11 capable doesn’t mean it has the latest DX9 files!!! Most game issues can be fixed by simply updating the DX files.

BTW - Windows 7 is fully compatible with games and hardware that use older versions of DirectX

AND ALSO TO KOROM (If you are running Kaspersky also)

Go into the settings of Kaspersky and go to the last option called GAming profile. Make sure that is enabled. Kaspersky will run a scan every now and again everytime the games access files it needs on the HDD whilst you play.

Hi Korom, i bought the same Acer 7745G note (with more ram, two WD5000BEVT-22A0RT0 hard drives) and there was the same problem for me with gaming like you described: periodic 3-4 sec annoying lag during game - this lag looks like occurs at the moment, the laptop tries to read/write on harddrives something. To solve it - run any application which loads harddrives with any small work - periodicaly. This "periodic work" does not allow the harddrives goes to "spinn off". This solves the problem. For me - i created simple app which creates small file on each of harddrives (1000 byte size) and fills them with garbage. After 30 second those files again recreated and filled and etc. If you need i can provide this app to you (with source code).

Just an FYI, this is a two month old and we all hope that the OP has solved the post by now. In terms of yours could you start your own thread? It is less confusing and you will get more assistance

Hi Ken,
if he would found some solution - i guess he would posted it here. If Korom solved it somehow - that does not matter big. People still buying those laptops or other laptops with the same WD harddrives - and they experience the same lag problems. They try to find the solution on internet - they come here (i come here to find solution!) and see one of the solutions and there is no matter when my previous post was posted - people will coming here and now and lately just to see the solution. The reason i posted here - i understand the frustration of Korom, who buying not cheap laptop and experiencing that "blashes" in the games. Sorry if i violated some "good behaviour" rules.

With Regards, greeniesbest.

Having exact same problem with my brand new 7745G and drives me mad while playing WoW, raiding.

Could you send me this program greeniesbest to try it out with source code and explanation how to use it or what to do, pls?

Btw if this is done by the HDD there must be somekinda better solution to this problem than filling our HDD with garbage:S. I'm sooo mad with this, this notebook cost a smaller fortune...

Thanks in advance for your help.

rollhun, can you edit out your email, the forum rules prohibit posting email/phone/etc. in the threads Edit: If greeniebeast sees this thread, he can upload the app in a post...

Also, I could say someone else on this forum might be able to provide a script for you, but I don't know for sure. I will try to get more info for you. I can't PM Greeniebeast as he is also a new member. I will see what I can do....

Rollhun, go to power options in Control Panel. Click Change Plan Settings, then click Change advanced power options. You will see an expandable menu for hard drives. Set it to never turn the hard disk off. The fix that Greeniebeast came up with would do the same thing.
