Hello Everyone,
I have been having 3 annoying problems lately. This is the first computer that I have built all on my own, so I expect they are a result of me doing something wrong. The first is the dreaded BSOD. Secondly, I am having a problem with the Desktop Window Manager. My last problem is with USB ports that cause my computer to crash when I plug something into them.

Problem 1: BSOD
I have received many BSOD errors. I have been getting them ever since I first built my computer. I'm so sick of them and I just hope someone here can shed some light on my problem. Here is some information on my latest BSOD error. It happened earlier today. I turned on my computer and logged on. The first thing I noticed was that my desktop wallpaper was missing. The task bar and all my shortcuts were there, but background was simply black. I thought this was odd, so I right clicked on my screen to bring up the "Personalize" menu. Once the window opened, the screen got all distorted and then went dark. A few seconds later, the BSOD came up. I took a picture of it and included it in the attachment.

I ran the BSOD Dump & System File Collection app, and the System Health Report. This information is included in the attachment in this post.

Problem 2: “Desktop Window Manager has stopped working”
I get this error all the time. It has happened ever since I built my computer. I have tried restarting it using “services.msc” but that only works temporarily (like 5 or 10 seconds before crashing again.)

Problem 3: USB ports cause computer to crash.
This is a strange problem. I have several USB ports and a headphone jack on the front of my computer by the power button. If I plug anything into them, my computer almost always crashes. It doesn’t matter if it is my iPod, iPhone, Flash drive, or headphones. It crashes before I can even plug the thing in. For example: If I were to even touch the headphone jack to the headphone port, my computer would crash. I don’t know why. I never had this problem before. They always worked perfectly until just recently. It is only these ports in the front. The ones in the back of my computer still work perfectly.

Thank you all for your time and help. I truly appreciate it.

Hi BriKo and welcome to Seven Forums!

1. sptd.sys = BSOD
Please remove vritual CD programs such as Daemon Tools, Alcohol 120%. They use a system file "sptd.sys", that causes BSOD. Please use this tool to remove sptd.sys: http://www.duplexsecure.com/en/downloads.

2. Malware
Please remove your current third-party anti virus software and replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials. Some Third-Party Anti-Virus Software may conflict with Windows 7. Microsoft Security Essentials will cover Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware. Also, use Windows Firewall, not a third-party firewall software.

If you get another BSOD, upload it and the BSOD Experts or me will see what's causing the BSOD to appear.

Thank you so much for your help!

So far, I have uninstalled DAEMON Tools and Norton Anti Virus. I also ran the sptd.sys tool. I'll let you know if it works out.

Thanks
