Which is better?

The answer to that question will be different for different people. Do you want to be able to utilize additional memory? Do you want faster performace (sometimes)? Do you want to be ready when 64 is the norm and 32 is on the way out? Then 64 bit is for you.

or

Do you want to be able to use most programs and applications, now? Then 32 bit is for you.

There are many more differences between 32 and 64, but for me, memory usage is the most important.

EDIT: Like Richard said it all depends on what are you going to use Windows 7 for. I personally like to think ahead of technology if that is even possible!!:huh: 64bit is now more common than it was 2 years ago. Now when you buy a PC from HP or Dell your computer will most likely have a 64bit processor and OS on it..

Really depends on your computer specs and what you want to do with it. There is a lot more to 64bit than there is to 32 nowadays, although most programs are still coded in 32bit, some are coded in 64bit too, more and more programs do.

I used the word most, because if I said "all", I was sure that some poster would argue, giving examples of programs that were not 64 compatible. For that matter, I am sure that there are some that are not 64 compatible, although probably only a very few.

After looking at your computer specification 32 bit is the way for you to go.
I have both 32 and 64 bit versions and I tried them both and for myself the 32 bit fits my design and daily life well. When I installed the 64 bit version I didn't see much difference in my computers processing speed. I only have 2Gb in memory and most have 4Gb or more.

Anyone else have some thoughts on 32 or 64 bit?

I would suggest with your system specs to also get 32bit by my own preference is 64bit, I have only come across one program/game that wouldn't install but it was also a game for my kids made for windows 98 64bit I have found more dependable and secure.
