32 bit updates on a 64 bit system

I am running Win 7 ultimate 64 bit. An Indian tech for "System Mechanic" told me I should not install any updates for 32 bit systems. I have installed a lot of them because they show up in my windows update. Is that correct ? and if so can I just go through the installed update list and delete them?

I am confused here, you should always install all updates from windows update, (except optional, they are not required)
I would not trust a tech "from system mechanic"
System mechanic is a known bloatware application. I would uninstall it.
That software is unnecessary as windows 7 can handle itself. 3rd party cleaning programs are not absolutely needed.

Not installing updates from Microsoft, the creator of the OS, on the advice of some tech? Sorry, but that makes no sense.

System Mechanic is mostly crapware - and should be avoided.
Specifically, do NOT run the registry 'cleaner' as it tends to break systems rather than fix them.

You should definitely install 32-bit updates on a 64-bit system. The reason being that not all components of a 64-bit system are 64-bit, especially 3rd party applications you may have installed. If you don't install the 32-bit updates you may be leaving your system vulnerable and less secure due to those updates not getting applied.

A 64 bit OS does not have an inherent capability to run 32 bit applications. It must be specifically designed in. That includes the provision of a full set of 32 bit system DLLs and more. In other words a 64 bit OS also includes a substantial portion of a 32 bit OS. Just like a 32 bit OS this must be kept up to date or the security of your computer will be at risk.
