I saw this for the first time today. At first I panicked and thought I had a virus, but now I figure this is probably due to that recent massive security upgrade MS sent out on Wednesday. Some of my programs have a *32 just to the right of them. I'm going to guess that it's to distinguish 32-bit programs.

Am I right, close, or completely off the mark?

They've always been there. It isn't dues to any new update. Yes, those are 32 bit programs, as you correctly guessed.

Not the question you asked, but since you are concered about virus, this would be a great time to download malwarebytes and run a scan. Do the same with your antivirus.

I guess I just never noticed them before.

Thanks. I already have MBAM and will run it tonight for my weekly scan. :-)

That would be a correct guess. All Windows x64 OSes have done this, for the very reason you guessed.
