Would 64 run OK with just 4 gb RAM? I have 4 installed ddr2 800 and I have an extra 2 gb RAM but it's ddr2 667. That would give me 6 gb but it would downgrade the 800 ram. It wouldn't help, would it? If it will run OK with 4 gb for now, then I could get another 4 to match later.
32-bit wouldn't be taking advantage of even that 4GB of RAM.
I'd certainly use 64-bit with that system. You can play with adding even more RAM later if you want. Some things you use might benefit more from RAM quantity, some might benefit more from maintaining speed.
The main thing to confirm before going with 64-bit is that you have 64-bit drivers available for any hardware you might use. In particular, some people have older scanners and printers they still use that lack 64-bit drivers, and moving to a 64-bit OS then effectively renders them unusable in most cases.
