32bit vs 64bit install.

in the bios you should have the ability to move the boot drives up and down the list.

Those are the files i got after that i extract the file downloaded from
Windows 7 Release Candidate Customer Preview Program
First i tried just to copy those onto a dvd , when that dident work i did the same again...:o
And ive never used ImgBurn before.
And ive only installed windows vista twice, and that with the original DvD.
So the fact is that i have no idea what to do:o

hey guys
i've downloaded the 64-bit win7 and i have a Intel Pentium D 830 3GHz processor (which supports 64 bit)
however i only have 1 gig of ram - should the installation let me go ahead with only 1 gig of ram?
i've burnt the 64bit version and i may plan on upgrading my ram later on - which is why i want to choose the 64bit not 32bit.

thx!

On 1 gb yes you will be able to install & then make the OS crawl :D too unless you upgrade in a day or two. I would wait till I get the ram upgraded 1st.

oh so having 1gig of ram would make the 64bit os run slower? :(
very noticeably slower or just 'normal'? - because i was keen on installing the 64bit - especially since i've burnt it and i'm ready to go with a key :D

thx for the reply

Yes it will bcoz the OS itself would need 900mb-1gb, you are not just going to use the OS alone , you would need many software too for your work, few of them would come in your start up folder too requiring some amount of ram.

With 8 items in my startup folder right now as I am typing my memory usage is 1070mb I am using firefox browser. So if I had only 1gb of ram I cant use more software while browsing the net.

My typical usage of the comp is, uploading or downloading to our ftp/chatting yahoo & gtalk, every 10 mins the email is set to download the mails via poppeeper, music playing in the background & then my main applications for image editing 2-5 of them running.
Install the 64bit, it will be fine!!
Fine is a relative term here if you can work with a crawling computer then yes it will be fine, if only you want the OS to be loaded & require no other software just internet browsing then YES it will be fine, but I guess you will use comp for many other things too.

Seems running x64 OS is becoming a fashion without understanding why you need it & what are its additional capability over 32bit systems.

yh that makes sense - so the 64bit os' generally require more ram?
well my laptop has 3gig of ram and a 64bit processor..i take it it'd be ok to install the 64bit version on there?

and then i'll install the 32bit on my desktop..until i get more ram that is -

thanks for the feedback - the whole reason i want to go to 7 is just so i can get a fresh os with minimal lag etc - looks like i can achieve that with 32bit

Anthony what's your take on running the 64bit with 1gig of ram?
thx
