3D could ruin your depth perception

That's the problem. When the movie's over, and you take your glasses off, your brain is still ignoring all those depth perception cues. It'll come back to normal, eventually. Some people will snap right back. In others, it might take a few hours. This condition, known as 'binocular dysphoria', is the price you pay for cheating your brain into believing the illusion of 3D. Until someone invents some other form of 3D projection (many have tried, no one has really succeeded), binocular dysphoria will be part of the experience.

It's probably the glasses. What more uncomfortable can you get? My eyes felt like they were going to explode.

If they could figure out how to layer a screen in a 3 dimensional manner without eye-wear. Now that would definitely be pretty cool.

Makes me think twice about going to see Alice and Wonderland, lol

Iv heard rumors for awhile that they were working on 3d without the glasses.

I think I'll stick to a traditional theater viewing, or the occasional Imax.

And there's no way 3-D television sets are going to be successful either. Maybe to a serious tech enthusiast or just a "look what I got" piece.

Due to eye issues, I live in a 2 dimensional world visually... Ironically, a 3D movie is the only time I see clearly in 3 dimensions. I find it a very interesting and fun experience.

3D is not quite the same as real life 3D perception. Sorry.:(

I admit, this sounds like a realistic theory, not just some hater looking for excuses.

Perhaps the 3D makers should use ALL the cues?

You can;t use all the cues. The information does not exist in the filmed images.

For example, even moving your head /slightly/ in RL gives you a different angle on an RL scene. Well you don't get that on the screen, the camera view was fixed and that's all you get. The fact that your view angle into the scene does NOT change is one of those confusing missing clues.

The only way to make it work with all clues would be to create the entire 3d scene in 3d space so you could walk around it or at least when you shifted in your seat you would see the proper angle shift in the scene as you are now looking at it from one foot to the right. And so far that's the thing that has not been done very well yet.

I wonder what other ones there are. The scene angle shift is the huge one I know about. Would be neat to have the guy expand on what the other issues are. I love this stuff :)
