Sorry for lack of knowledge on this.

I just ordered Sony KDL-46EX723BU Full HD 3D LED TV. I was wondering if I use it with my PC as monitor and turn 3D mode on, will my games be shown in 3d or not.

If yes, does anyone else here played any games on 3D screen? What are the pro's/con's

Thanks

Hi,

yes, you can use you new HD TV as your PC monitor if the TV has a VGA port in it.Most likely your TV will have it, and playing your games in 3d only some games are compatible in 3d like AVATAR-THE GAME, DEVIL MAY CRY 5 and many more.

give me a list of ports in your tv.

I got two XFX HD 5770's in crossfire. I reckon they should support 3D output.

I remember once I went to Multiplay/Insomnia event and I saw PC game on 3d monitor (can't remember the name of it) but thats atleast 2 years ago.

If you look here:

http://www.amd.com/us/products/desk...5770/pages/ati-radeon-hd-5770-overview.aspx#2

it says 3D stereoscopic display/glasses support

Devilz, you should be good to go. The only limiting factor is game compatibility. My Nvidia console shows me compatible games, maybe your ATI console will as well.

That is not entirely static either many already released games have been adding support over the last several months to the extent that one might call it a trend

No, sorry, I am at work and my work PC does not have an Nvidia GPU. Maguscreed is, however, much more informed about ATI, than am I. He has responded and is correct.

Sorry for lack of knowledge on this.

I just ordered Sony KDL-46EX723BU Full HD 3D LED TV. I was wondering if I use it with my PC as monitor and turn 3D mode on, will my games be shown in 3d or not.

I don't if it's still the case, but you had to pay for a 3rd party 3D driver with AMD.

The TV also supports 'forced' fake 3D.

If yes, does anyone else here played any games on 3D screen? What are the pro's/con's

Thanks

If driver/game supported - big FPS hit.

If TV enabled, crosstalk (ghosting), eye strain and potentially headaches when used for prolonged periods of time.

I've got the 40" version of that TV but no glasses so I can't say how good the forced 3D is, but I used my 58" 3DTV and the results were less than stellar.

I don't believe BF3 will work natively with AMD.

Bloody Big Grin
I've played extensively on a very pricey system with 3d.
My major complaints is eye adjustment problems and headaches when playing for more than about an hour at a time. Focusing on distant objects all gives for a 'strange' effect.

I suppose on a normal machine it would mean a significant rendering hit as it is essentially doubling each frame for the 3d process to work. The system I'm talking about has dual gtx590's in it so I can't really speak on that front. ...and I do realize most people are not going to have nearly 2000 dollars worth of graphics card in their rig as well. (hell even I don't go that far, but fortunately I have friends who do so I still get to check it out now and then)

The overall effect is incredible though.

This is also all with Nvidia. ATI has integrated support for all these 3d features into the 5,6, and 7 series cards, but they have never really 'activated it' with associated driver and software support the way nvidia has.
