Trying to access a website belonging to a known ski club, I get a message saying "403 Forbidden. You are not allowed to access this page. Possble problems"

I am using WIndows 7 with Windows Security and the security level is set at medium.

Is there a workaround to designate a safe website without lowering security to dangerous levels?

The 403 forbidden message on the website is a response generated by the web server saying that you do not have permission to view this page, whether it be because of your IP address or because you haven't logged into the site, it may be because of something else but this is these are the most common causes.

It is NOT to do with your PC's firewall etc.

Read more about error 403 at HTTP Error 403 Forbidden Explained, I believe the important bit is at the bottom.

If by an odd chance it is not this which is causing the problem then I will be happy to help in diagnosing what is the problem and then trying to fix it.

This is theWeb site deliberately does not want you to browse directories - you have to navigate from one specific Web page to another using the hyperlinks in those Web pages. This is true for most Web sites on the Internet - their Web server has "Allow directory browsing" set OFF.

Maybe...

So, truncate your url and try only www.skiclub.com

Just this side of fast enough.
Thanks for the replies and offer to help.
From a suggestion in a search on this forum, I went to 'Local Security Policy' and under Administrator Account Status changed Disabled to Enabled. Then tried the forbidden website and was able to open it.
