Hey there, i have a samsung r522 laptop with 2.2ghz processor, 4gb ram and a dedicated ati card. i can only use 2.89gb of ram cause of my 32bit windows 7 premium, i want too get the most out of this laptop, would an upgrade too 64bit windows 7 home premium? i do light gaming, msn, skype, internet.

so basic question is for the 1.18gb ram is it worth getting 64bit? i have 2 120gb hdd's id install it on the second.

also is there any way of getting my os too 64bit without buying the WHOLE win7 again?

thanks.:)

OS
Windows Home Premium 32Bit.
Upgrading to 64-bit will make windows use up to 3.75GB considering that your onboard GPU shares memory with your RAM

Yes go with 64-bit
Unused RAM = Wasted RAM

It is a large under taking. You have to research if the cpu is the only thing preventing you from going to 64 bit (could also be ram, front side bus, etc). Then there is the OS re-install. You would have to re-install all the apps (and certain legacy games wont run).

An easier approach might be to visit blackviper dot com and see what services can safely be disabled.

Be sure you have a restore point and backup before you make any changes just in case.

im not too sure, its an ati 4330 and 4gb ram and 32 bit shows 2.89gb atm, if i upgrade and only get .8 of a gig of ram its not really that worth it IMO. id want all my 4gb and full use of my 512 mb GPU

ive seen a few laptops on the net with the same processor and has 64bit installed so the cpu would work, the gpu doesnt make a difference and i asume the ram would work

lf you have to buy a new 64bit OS and spend $100, l would not bother. For "normal" operaton you will probably not see a big difference and for gaming a laptop is the wrong machne anyhow.

If your laptop actually has an Intel Core CPU in it (read: NOT Core 2/i3/i5/i7), then it does not support x86-64 instructions, and can therefore not run a 64-bit OS.

Also, FSB cannot prevent use of a 64-bit OS.
