Solved 5770 vs 5830 -upgrade

Hello everyone i was just looking at the vidcards happen to stumble on a deal for the 5830 oc Im wondering would it be a crime to sell my 5770 and go for the 5830?

I want to get good as it gets before my oppertunity goes I wanted to upgrade my cpu as well but it would be no point cause i wouldn't see a performance bump but i am very curious to see what the forum users suggest about this card how much more would i gain besides a little more speed

It wouldn't be a crime at all.

But if I were you, I'd wait for the HD 6000 series cards.

Maybe the HD 6770 will be around that price (5830 OC).

I'm definitely selling my GTX 460 once November rolls around, very disappointed with nVidia's drivers.

if you going for a upgrade get the nvidia gtx460

or a cheaper option grab another 5770 and go crossfire

@Gilly i have thought about crossfire for a long time but im not sure it is really worth it ....I already have a mobo in mind for dual gpu but then if i do this i will have to up a new psu atleast 850watt new ddr3 ram atleast 8 gigs of viper g ram patriot

im prepared to do a little cash spending because i have a few perks comming my way persay so i am pretty much going to throw a little more beef in my bun so to speak

@ SlackerITguy you have any info on the 6000 series and how much better it will be vs what were useing now cause it sounds kinda higher price especially to match up with the top 5800 cards pricing and i was almost swaying towards the nvidia again it seems like thiere specs are insane but i have had many of thiere cards never seemed that way when it came down to it i even had to oc a card

Dang...........I think i fell in love with the 6800 series 512 mb mmmmmmmm
So nice...... now that is something of dreams maybe i can sell my 5770 and throw some cash in with it and get one of those cards assuming it is within some sort of price range

yes it can be abit of a pain in the arse at times lol
i decided to get a second 5770 because i saw a cheap reference one going on ebay
they dont need that much power though, ive only got a 650watt

Well, the general belief out there is that the HD 6000 series cards will be very similar to the current lineup performance wise (maybe ~5%-10% faster, due to the higher clock speeds) but with improved tessellation performance.

well we will see soon i am very interested in this and even offered to sell my card to a co -worker for i was going to do this anyway for my upgrade but i told him i wanted to do it in november sometime so he told me to hit him up

i told him i wanted 150.00 for my diamond hd5770 i paid 220.00 when it first came out so that is a fair price for a juniper based gpu so i entend on spending atleast 300.00 for a nicer supportive card

just seems like when i thought i had a good card everyone just blows me away with something better :shock:

As a current HD5770 user I was thinking 460GTX but now I'm leaning towards HD6770, especially if it's 256bit.

Well I figure that would be the way to go but i also was looking at the GTX 470

Funny I wasn't going to bother with Nvidia but hell they were on my mind for a instant

None the less i said i was going to stick with one brand or off brand none Intel
and use all none related stuff with them i know Nvidia has nothing to do with Intel I just kinda gave up cause there real good cards are to expensive

you know ....and in another half a year a better GPU comes out and the price drops
