64-bit Browsers

Just revisited this post. I'd like some confirmation that x64 browsers aren't protected. Seeing as the poster that posted that was originally "Here to Help" (banned), then "Today" (banned tomorrow). I don't believe a word he posted. In a quick Google, I found nothing to confirm his statements (nor deny either). A Guy

Emailed AVG about this subject. Here is their reply:

Dear Manuel,
Thank you for your e-mail.
Please be kindly informed that AVG supports 64 bit browsers, still please note that Minefield is not a final Firefox version. The only option that is not supported on 64 bit Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers is the "Search-Shield" of the LinkScanner component.

I am sure other AV programs also provide the necessary support. So we can all continue safe surfing with 64 bit browsers!

I've been using FF Minefield for ages now and have watched it update and evolve. It's now a fine browser in my opinion and I'm using Adobe "Square" x64 Flash Player with it.
I also run Chrome Dev build (now on 10.0. something) and Opera 11.
Both Chrome Dev and Minefield occasionally go through an unusable period every now and then when the latest updates prove glitchy. Usually at different times so that's ok.
As already mentioned, I can't see any obvious advantages to Minefield being x64. It seems fast and smooth when running well but so do the other two.
Neither Minefield or Opera beat Chrome for speed.
However, some web pages do not display properly in Opera, particularly newspaper sites for some reason.
I also have a problem with Chrome in that I cannot find a way to display addresses in the "omnibar" which prevents cut and paste links. Annoying.
Opera 11 is quite beautiful but has display problems which prevent it being perfect and Chrome Dev has the above problem.
I have Minefield as my default and 99% of the time it's great and then an update comes along that renders it unusable for a day or so, but these are usually soon fixed.
It's a tough life
As for security. I've been using MSE since it came out accompanied by scans with MBytes and SuperAntiSpyware every Sunday and I've had no issues at all.
