32-Bit processors was first introduced way back in the mid-80s with the 386, and it's about time that we move on to bigger, more powerful choices and leave 32-bit where it belongs: In the history books.
64-bit processors were developed in the mid-90s, I had one, the Nintendo 64! I think we should be at least at 256-bit processors by now.

omg stay safe baby, ima get you soon you sexy thang :p
on another note,i saw somewhere that first 64bit processors were made in the 70s,or was it the 60s,anyways is that correct?

I think this is what you are referring to.

"64-bit CPUs have existed in supercomputers since the 1960s and in RISC-based workstations and servers since the early 1990s. In 2003 they were introduced to the (previously 32-bit) mainstream personal computer arena, in the form of the x86-64 and 64-bit PowerPC processor architectures."

So for 6 years we have been stuck with crappy 32/64 bit programming, AHHHH!!!

I run 4GB with a 512mb gpu which is plenty of memory for me.
Now if I would have a 2GB gpu 6 or 8GB may be an option I would consider.

Now tell me why the average consumer needs this?
I can understand servers but for home??

Artists, home movie makers photoshop would love all the ram it could get. I use some 3D modeling software for my digital art and even with a system that can handle the most demanding games but would slow to a day render for 3D objects.

I think the next big thing in computers is going to be the way we interact with them. They keyboard - mouse combo is out dated. Multi touch interfaces seem to be what will be the next big move in computers (IMHO) I have noticed the use of it in TV and movies a lot the past year and if they can get the costs down I think before we get more power we will get new ways of using what we currently have. Shoot the computer that took radioactive pictures of my kidneys yesterday was at least 10+ years old I don't think it could handle running XP let alone 64 bit software. I do have to say it scares me to see the computers that are being used to track all my medical stuff like my meds and allergies are kept on Dell and Panasonic computers that have less power then my mini netbook. Hell I think my wife's blackberry Pearl has more computer power then some of the computers monitoring my life.
