Some time ago I installed a Windows 7 Professional upgrade for Vista--32bit. I now want to move to 64 bit. I understand that it has to be a clean install, but because I have the Vista upgrade discs, but no longer actually have Vista on my system, will the upgrade and installation be successful? Thanks

Michael

Thanks Kari... it wasn't 100% clear from that tutorial whether the upgrade discs would "know" I had a qualifying previous version (vista) of windows, because what it will see is my current 32 bit Windows 7... Can I assume I'll be ok?

Also, when I do the clean install, will my internal D drive be untouched--or does that have to be wiped clean too?

Thanks very much

Michael

Only if you want to wipe it, or select it by mistake when you select which drive to install too. Best thing to do to avoid any problems or confusion during the install would be to just disconnect the second drive until after, and then re-connect it once Windows is installed.
